The Monadnock area of New Hampshire is only an evening's drive from Boston, and is a wonderful place to find an old-fashioned country summer.
Mt. Monadnock region summer weather -- by July, we have warm settled weather, pleasant swimming, peaceful evenings. The bedrooms have air-conditioning for the occasional hot spell.
Continuing through the summer, the gardens are a sweep of flowering perennials, roses and many classic perennial flowers.
SteppingStones B&B has a special garden patio area for family events or get-togethers, whether an intimate wedding, garden party, or graduation celebration.
Bring along some walking boots and binoculars, to walk and enjoy the summer air and sun. You can walk right out the door on plenty of local dirt roads, take a short hike up Pack Monadnock with your dog, or stroll down to the local reservoir to see geese, ducks and beaver.

There is also a private tennis club, tucked away in the pines 10 minutes walk away, available for guests. You'll need to sweep the pine needles off the court, but it's cool and quiet.
